Moonlight Meeting for Seniors

A mixed Field side kicked off the weekend with a match played on Friday under floodlights against Winchester’s 4th XV. Despite their lowly sounding standing in the Winchester set-up, the 4th XV are no slouches and currently sit fourth in the Hampshire North, five places ahead of Field’s 2nd XV. For a scratch Field side this was always going to be something of a lottery and so it proved with Winchester keeping the scoreboard ticking over at a regular rate to comfortably win the tie.

In hindsight, it was probably not such a good idea for Field’s senior players to take on such a tough match less than 24-hours before they went on to face similarly tough opposition in their Saturday fixtures. However, it was heartening to see the level of enthusiasm of the players for the matches and speaks highly of the commitment and dedication shown by Field’s rapidly swelling Senior numbers.
