Petersfield Colts vs Bognor

The game started in dry conditions on a calm but chilly Remembrance Sunday following a one minute silence to remember those who gave up their lives for our freedom. That freedom could not be better expressed than in sport.

The Petersfield colts were chasing their first league win of the season. In fact, those who played as colts last season we chasing their first league win for nearly two years.

Spirits were high. The Video cameras were set, the scoreboard was lit and the balcony was occupied by the"balconiers" for which Petersfield has become well known.

Field's attack was instant and Harris scored the first try just a minute into the game. Whitear converted to go 7-0 up.

The visitors, Bognor, struck back swiftly on the 7 minute mark to score their own try. It was clear that Petersfield would have to work for this win.

Watson flew over the line for Field's second, Whitear's conversion attempt thwarted by the uprights.

On 25 minutes, Ffrench-Lynch scored a near identical try - under the posts, making Whitear'c conversion a little easier.

Half time score was 26-5

Bognor was not going to take this lying down and the game showed some excellent attack and defence through the second half.

Watson scored his second on 42 minutes, Whitear slotted a penalty on 50 minutes and Chinnock rounded the day off with a rather sweet chase and ground try.

These 13 points were unanswered by the opposition, leaving the final score as 39-5.

A great bonus-point win for the hosts and a real positive for the team's morale going into the second half of the league draw.
