Following an overwhelmingly positive online response to our initial release of the bespoke Petersfield RFC shirt from the early 2000s, we are thrilled to announce its re-release, perfectly timed for the festive season!

Originally designed in 2000, this shirt marked a significant departure from the traditional red and white hoops that had characterised Petersfield RFC’s kits. It became iconic, primarily worn by the club's Vets, and played a pivotal role in the team’s history. Notably, during the 2008/09 season, a legendary Vets side donned this very strip as they lifted the Hampshire Cup for the first time, etching their names into the club’s annals.

As the game of rugby has evolved over the past decade, so too have the jerseys. Teams have shifted from traditional cotton designs to tight-fitting polyester shirts that prioritise athletic efficiency. This transition was highlighted by our friend Harry at Jim’s Jerseys, who encountered the issue while studying at university in Sheffield. Inspired by an old cotton rugby jersey gifted to him by a friend, Harry sought to recreate a similar classic, leading to the formation of Jim’s Jerseys.

Since its inception, Jim’s Jerseys has successfully sold over 10,000 jerseys to rugby clubs, university teams, and schools across the UK. Their mission is to craft special, wearable pieces of memorabilia that resonate beyond the pitch. When we approached them with the idea of remaking our iconic strip—still cherished by many former players and even their children—Harry and his team delivered an almost identical replica. The first pre-sale launched over the summer, sparking excitement among our members.

Now, many Petersfield RFC supporters can be spotted proudly wearing their jerseys at Penns Place on weekends. Following a stunning photoshoot featuring the talented Will Prichard and the dynamic Joe Cuthbertson, we realised it would be a missed opportunity not to bring these jerseys back for our community just in time for Christmas!
