Petersfield RFC players and staff were celebrating on Thursday following the Club's success at this year's EHDC Sports Awards.
At a packed event at the Old Thorns Manor on 12th February Gareth Crane and Rob Mocatta took home the top prize in their respective categories whilst the Club and its volunteers were also recognised.
Wearing a daring blue shirt with Club tie combo for the gala evening, Gareth was overwhelmed by the honour he had received. Holding tightly to his boyhood hero, Fred Dinage, Gareth managed a few words of thanks for his large support team and massive fan base before emotion got the better of him. Later, at the after show party, he had recovered enough to mention the Club and the opportunity it had given him, before he and Fred disappeared for the rest of the night.
Stu Barden, in a sparkly, off-the-shoulder sequinned number, was not quite so sanguine at his failure to land the Service to Sport award. However, there appears to be no truth in the rumour that he had a Russell Crow "moment" backstage.
