Following constructive discussions with Havant, we can confirm that Saturday’s scheduled home match against the Havant Dolphins has been relocated to Havant RFC with an earlier kick off at 12:00pm.
Persistent rainfall over recent weeks, combined with the significant wear to our pitches during last weekend’s fixtures, has left the surface at Penns Place unplayable. With further rain forecast this evening and tomorrow morning, and with player welfare our absolute priority, the match has been switched. Tomorrow’s fixture will now be classed as an away game, with the return meeting in March designated as our home fixture.
Although there will be no rugby played at Penns Place, our annual Vice Presidents Lunch WILL go ahead as planned. We appreciate that many of the 123 guests were expecting to watch the match from the balcony and we apologise for the disappointment.
To help compensate, we will be live streaming the match via our VEO system and showing the coverage on the big screen in the clubhouse for everyone to enjoy during lunch.
A further update regarding youth, girls and mini rugby will be issued after a pitch inspection, which will take place either tomorrow evening or on Sunday morning.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this particularly soggy spell.
