Everything You Need To Know Ahead Of Petersfield Women's Return To Penns Place This Sunday Against Aldershot & Fleet Herons.

Ever since Petersfield Women came up against the formidable Salisbury Women’s side a month ago, leaving the pitch with a few bruises and a lust for redemption, the team has been working tirelessly in the background to put their best foot forward for their next game against Aldershot and Fleet this Sunday.

‘Field were due to play a friendly against Fawley on December 7th; however, Coach Cam Thomas cancelled the fixture, stating that he wanted to give his side every ounce of preparation possible to ensure that every player went into the next game with confidence. Over the past few weeks, Thomas has been focusing on various contact and line speed drills in training to develop their attacking edge and ensure that players feel comfortable going into tackles, thereby reducing the risk of injury.

Despite the relentless rainy weather that December has brought thus far, this ‘Field side shows promise and excitement ahead of their return to Penns Place in a few days. Although conceding a loss in their last match, ‘Field have otherwise been wildly successful in their opening campaign, and will look to put out another big score this weekend. Threatening this, though, is the Aldershot & Fleet Herons, a side that has been on a winning streak in the Inner Warrior Development League since the summer.

The Herons have had a brilliant start to their 2025/26 season, winning against the likes of the Salisbury ‘Spitfires’, Fawley, Millbrook, and Aylesbury; however, they suffered a 32-5 loss to the Isle of Wight women’s side on November 22nd. No doubt the ‘Field Women will look to end the Heron’s current winning streak and start one of their own going into 2026. This Sunday’s Petersfield lineup is littered with pure strength and power, with talent in both the front and the back making it hard to imagine anything but celebrations to come.

Revving up in the front row, Emma Ward, Charlie Wolfe, and Jas Warren will look to dominate in the scrums, provide power and gain metres into the Aldershot and Fleet half. Not far behind, the second row consists of Lara Hinson and Lucy Barton, two names that you won’t want to forget come Sunday. Completing the forward pack are the likes of Lucy Shaw-Hill, Becky Hollands, and Leanne Wallis, who will add finesse to ‘Field’s set pieces and tackling prowess.

The quick hands of Mia Ellis earn the number 9 jersey, with Hannah Wright and Holly Mullard at number 10 and 11, respectively, who will look to work the ball edgeways. Daniella Nicholls and Tegan Kinch are ‘Field’s inside and outside centres, with Bea Daley and Kam Carty completing the back pack at numbers 14 and 15. This squad will look to work together seamlessly, thanks to their effective communication and confidence in each other, to get the ball underneath the uprights.

The bomb squad this Sunday features the likes of Esther Figgins, Lydia Morris, Katie Phillips, and Daisy Plant, all ready to support their side with encouragement and extra firepower. Congratulations to the two ‘Field debutants set to start this weekend, Becky Hollands and Bea Daley!

You’re not going to want to miss this match, so get yourselves, your family and friends down to Penns Place for a 2 pm kick-off this Sunday, 14th December, to be a part of the action!
