Preview | ‘Field Women Look To Start Spring With An Away Win In Surrey

Holly Allsop7 Mar - 15:50

Holly Allsop Tells You Everything You Need To Know Ahead Of This Sunday’s Away Game Against Cranleigh Ladies RFC.

After a disappointing month of cancelled fixtures and a close loss against Andover, Petersfield Women will be looking forward to a clean slate in March. To start off the Spring season, ‘Field will face Cranleigh Ladies at their home grounds of Wildwood Lane, framed with friends and family at the sidelines all hoping to see their team emerge victorious.

Where the Rams were expecting to face Salisbury last week, but left wanting, they will be raring to go for this match up in Surrey, looking to snatch the win from under the Cranfordian’s feet.

Cranleigh Women have been a thriving and social team since 2022 when they made their debut against Horsham RFC Ladies in March of that year, winning 25-20. This brings back fond memories of Petersfield Women’s Debut against Littlehampton in October 2025, when they beat the Lionesses 22-0.

The Cranfordians 2026 campaign has demonstrated the competitiveness of local, grassroots Women’s rugby, with their most recent match being a loss against Dorking II RFC, but the match before that being a thrilling 94-0 win against Burgess Hill RFC. Cranleigh have also beaten Guildford II RFC last December, but fallen short against Heathfield & Waldron II RFC in January.

This adds an air of mystery around the upcoming fixture for ‘Field this Sunday, questioning whether the home side will bring their winning A game, or if the Rams will take their losing streak to two. As both sides have recently lost a game, they will both be hungry for the victory, therefore this match will very likely be one you’ll want to watch.

In terms of firepower, ‘Field will be bringing the heat with Daisy Plant, Backy Hollands, and Charlie Wolfe starting as the front pack, with Lucy Barton and Lara Hinson following close behind in 4 and 5. Chennai O’Reilly, Ester Figgins, and Leanne Wallis will take their usual place in the back row and be looking to cover some serious ground on Sunday.

Making her number 9 debut, Maz Gregory will take position at scrum half and be sure to keep the Cranfordians on their toes. Hannah Wright will continue to master her fly half position and Holly Mullard will look to cause some havoc in the 11 jersey. Maddy Hall and Lydia Morris take on the centre positions with Rachael Hunt following in 14. Conversion queen Tegan Kinch will round off the squad as the fullback, no doubt looking to make her mark on the scoreboard.

Please come along and support the ladies as they travel to Cranleigh RFC in Surrey this Sunday, 2pm Kick-off.

See you there!
