Field’s U9s began their pool matches with a comfortable 5-0 win against US Portsmouth. What followed shocked the team as they lost 5-2 against Romsey. Despite the disappointment, heads remained high and Field came out firing for their must win last pool game against Overton. Another fine victory, 5-1, and Field were into the knock-out rounds.

Field met Farnborough in the Plate semi-final and the tries kept on coming. A 5-2 win for Field saw them in to the final against Gosport & Fareham. Another exceptional team performance secured Field a 2-1 victory and the 2016 U9 Hampshire Plate.

The boys’ confidence and understanding visibly grew throughout the day. The skill and teamwork shared on this day will stand them all good stead both on and off the pitch.

A last minute drop out led to a quickly -put together ‘Barbarians’ team consisting of all Field players. Drawn in a tough pool and with no practice together as a team, the squad showed how hard they have been working in training and put on some amazing rugby. The Barbarians faced some tough opposition but still managed to progress to the semi-finals of the Shield and also have the glory of being the only team to score a try against the overall County Champions, Alton.
