No score posted as this game was way too good for that.
During the week, we were contacted to be advised of the untimely death of legendary club man and president Geoff Bond of Farnham RUFC.
The plan was very fitting - to put together a Colts Barbarians team from other local clubs to face the Farnham Academy on the Sunday afternoon.
Needless to say, Petersfield jumped at the chance and, along with Bracknell and Camberley sent a fine group of enthusiastic young men to meet the challenge.
With a total of around 40 players, the teams were further mixed up so that Farnham was in the general mix.
The President's XV wore the home kit of black and white hoops and the Babas wore the away kit - black and yellow
Bambrough-Smith, Baty, Crowley, Horsfall O, and Horsfall E represented Petersfield with much gusto. The tackle of the day could well have been Horsfall on Horsfall (nothing personal there then!). It was a day to have fun. Props tackling and kicking for goal - even one attempted drop goal. Full-backs in at every ruck. Balls deliberately aimed at the balconiers from penalties. All the usual skull-duggery of a Babas match.
I am sure an official score is out there if anyone is interested. This was a day to make new mates in new places and prove just how fantastic the rugby family is.
Well done to all players and coaches who brought a great deal of sunshine into a dark time at Farnham RUFC.
Can we do it again please?
