Women’s rugby is back at Petersfield RFC – and this time, it’s here to stay.
The 2025/26 season marks the relaunch of our senior women’s squad, more than 20 years after the last women’s team took the field. What began as a dream in January has quickly become a reality, with the side winning their first match in October against Littlehampton!
This is a bold and exciting step that reflects the club’s deep commitment to inclusion, growth, and the future of the game. With a thriving Girls’ section already in place, the addition of a senior women’s side completes a full pathway from Minis through to adult rugby.
The Team Behind the Team
A strong support network ensures the women’s programme has everything in place to succeed:
Amie Boyes – Team Manager: Oversees administration, membership, and organisation.
Cam Thomas – Head Coach: Leads on-field rugby development and player progression.
Esther – Player Welfare & Social Secretary: Ensures wellbeing and team spirit, both on and off the pitch.
Gerry – Equipment Manager: Manages all kit and equipment.
James – Marketing Director: Provides coverage and digital content for women’s rugby.
Chase Thomas – TikTok Admin: Runs the TikTok channel and supports brand partnerships.
Training
Training takes place at Penns Place:
Tuesdays: 7:00–8:30pm (Pitch 4)
Thursdays: 7:00–8:30pm (Pitch 2) - complete with post-training dinners in the clubhouse.
Sessions focus on fitness, fundamentals, fun, and building a strong team culture.
Membership & Sponsorship
Membership for the 2025/26 season is £120 (£10/month option available), covering RFU insurance, meals after matches, Thursday night dinners, and access to the club’s Premiership-style Media Day.
Players also have the option of Strength & Conditioning with Katy “Miss Bish” for just £25 a year, including full use of Gladiator Camp gym.
The women’s programme is proudly backed by LGW, House of Boo, and Mile Digital, with opportunities still available for further sponsorship. In addition, businesses can sponsor individual players for £300, supporting grassroots rugby while receiving recognition across club platforms.
Looking Ahead
The first few months of the season will focus on teaching the squad the fundamentals of rugby, building towards a first fixture in October 2025.
In early 2026, Petersfield RFC plans to host a double-header in front of a sold-out Ladies Lunch – with the men’s 1st XV kicking off at 3pm, followed by the women’s team under the floodlights.
Looking further ahead, the 2026/27 season – Petersfield RFC’s centenary year – will see the women’s team step into competitive rugby as they enter the official RFU women’s rugby pyramid.
